OUR DIFFERENCES

A deep dive into our high-performance standards.

Product Details

Thinkware’s newest flagship dash cam, the U3000, captures true 4K UHD 2160p resolution at the front and 2K QHD 1440p at the rear, making it one of the highest-resolution two-channel dash cams on the market. Housed in a low-profile and modern design, the U3000 combines outstanding image quality with Dual RADAR technology, cloud connectivity, and a comprehensive set of driver safety features.

Ultra High Definition Video Quality

Equipped with the latest Sony Starvis 2 IMX678 Image Sensor, the U3000 records crystal-clear 4K 2160p UHD footage at the front and 2K 1440p QHD footage at the rear, day or night at 30FPS. The 152° front and 128° rear wide-angle lenses minimise blind spots to ensure all events are captured without fail.

4K Image Quality Settings

The U3000 allows you to adjust the bit rate of recorded footage for the best balance between quality and storage efficiency. A greater amount of data per second means better image quality and clarity. Choose between Standard Option (24Mbps) or High Option (30Mbps) to suit your preferences and storage capacity.

Dynamic 2K at 60FPS

The U3000 also supports 2K QHD recording at 60 frames per second. The higher frame rate delivers smoother and sharper footage for a more detailed, accurate record of events on the road.

Dual Channel Recording

The U3000 supports a second camera input, allowing you to add a 2K 1440P QHD rear camera for complete front and rear coverage. The rear camera is available as an optional extra and is included in two-channel kits.

State-of-the-Art Video Enhancements

The U3000 is equipped with three video enhancement technologies to ensure clear footage in any lighting condition:

Wide Dynamic Range (WDR)

Whether driving under bright sunlight, heading out of a tunnel, or passing into the shadow of a tall building, the WDR feature compensates for sudden changes in light exposure. It eliminates overly bright spots and corrects colour balance to produce clear images in all conditions.

Nighttime Picture Quality Correction

Videos recorded at night on poorly lit roads can lack clarity — but not with the U3000. Its enhancement sensors provide independent control over brightness, colour, and noise cancellation, delivering vivid video recordings even during evening drives on dimly lit streets.

Automatic Exposure

A sudden rise in light exposure caused by intense sunlight, oncoming headlight beams, or poor tunnel lighting can challenge any ordinary dash cam. The U3000’s automatic exposure function controls light levels at all times to ensure consistently crisp footage.

Super Night Vision 4.0

Super Night Vision 4.0 takes advantage of Sony STARVIS 2’s advances in high-sensitivity and low-noise technology to capture clearer footage in low-light conditions than ever before.

Parking Surveillance Mode

With hardwiring or OBD-II cable installation, the U3000 protects your vehicle while it is parked by capturing footage when an impact or motion is detected. You can tailor the parking surveillance mode to the coverage that best fits your needs by choosing from:

  • Impact/Motion Detection — captures any impact to or movement around the parked vehicle; helps catch vandalism and hit-and-run incidents
  • Time Lapse — records at a reduced frame rate for extended coverage on limited storage
  • Energy Saving Mode — minimises power draw for longer unattended parking periods

New: Radar Parking Mode with Built-In Radar

Radar Parking Mode is a low-power recording mode that uses the U3000’s built-in radar to monitor motion with minimal power consumption (hardwiring cable or OBD-II cable required). This enables longer buffered parking surveillance, so you also have footage of events leading up to an incident. When motion or impact is detected, the U3000 saves a 20-second video clip (10 seconds before and 10 seconds after the detection).

Note: Thinkware CONNECTED features are unavailable in Radar Parking Mode as all network data functions are disabled to reduce power consumption. The distance and degree of detection can vary depending on the environment. Not every object is guaranteed to be detected. Hardwiring or OBD-II cable is required for parking surveillance.

Smart Parking Mode

Smart Parking Mode prevents heat-related damage by automatically switching the U3000 to a low-power mode if the temperature inside the vehicle rises too high during parking. In this state, the dash cam records only impact-triggered incidents until the operating temperature returns to a safe range, at which point Motion Detection or Time Lapse Parking mode resumes automatically.

Thinkware CONNECTED App

With the U3000 connected to the internet, the dedicated Thinkware CONNECTED app gives you remote access to your vehicle from your smartphone. Connecting the dash cam to a mobile hotspot or Wi-Fi network with internet access will consume data — carrier charges may apply.

Available features via the Thinkware CONNECTED app include:

  • Strong Impact Notifications while driving
  • Impact Notifications when parked
  • Emergency SOS message sending
  • Remote Live View
  • Vehicle Status & Driving History
  • Captured image of the most recent parking location

Easy Wi-Fi Device Pairing with Bluetooth

Built-in Bluetooth allows hassle-free pairing with your compatible Android or iOS device via the Thinkware Dash Cam Link App. Once paired, replay your latest driving videos and manage your dash cam settings with ease.

Quick Downloads via Built-In Wi-Fi

Wi-Fi connectivity supports both 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands for the best experience in different environments. The 2.4GHz band offers a longer range and broader device capture, making it preferred in undisturbed environments. The 5GHz band provides better performance with higher bandwidth over shorter distances, making it preferable in dense urban environments to avoid congestion. Download speed and connection performance may vary depending on smartphone specifications and telecommunications conditions.

Advanced Driver Alert System (ADAS)

Rear Collision Warning System [New]

The U3000 introduces a new Rear Collision Warning System that notifies you of any tailgating vehicles within a distance of 5 to 10 metres for more than 5 seconds. The system automatically saves footage to the event folder and can be activated from 50km/h.

Lane Departure Warning System (LDWS)

Designed for distracted or drowsy drivers, the LDWS alerts you as soon as it detects your vehicle leaving its lane while driving at speeds over 50km/h, helping to prevent road incidents and keep you and your passengers safe.

High Speed / Urban Forward Collision Warning System (FCWS / uFCWS)

Keep a safe following distance with the FCWS and uFCWS. The system calculates the real-time distance between your vehicle and the automobile ahead — at speeds over 30km/h on expressways (FCWS) and under 30km/h in congested city conditions (uFCWS). A three-level early warning is issued depending on the severity of the potential collision risk.

Front Vehicle Departure Warning (FVDW)

When stopped at an intersection or in a traffic jam, the FVDW intelligent guidance system alerts you when the vehicle ahead has already started moving, helping you stay attentive at all times.

Comprehensive Driving Information with GPS

Built-in GPS precisely pinpoints your vehicle’s location and records driving routes and speed on a map. In the event of a road incident, GPS provides accurate readings of vehicle speed, time of collision, and impact severity for a complete account of events. The GPS also allows you to track and recall past driving routes for work or leisure.

Safety Camera Alerts

The U3000 helps drivers stay within traffic rules by providing timely alerts for average speed cameras, mobile speed zones, and fixed red-light and speed cameras via the built-in GPS.

What resolution does the U3000 record at?

The U3000 records 4K UHD 2160p at the front and 2K QHD 1440p at the rear, both at 30FPS. It also supports 2K QHD recording at 60FPS.

What is Radar Parking Mode and how does it work?

Radar Parking Mode uses the U3000’s built-in radar to detect motion around the vehicle while parked, using minimal power. When motion or impact is detected, it saves a 20-second video clip (10 seconds before and after the event). Hardwiring or OBD-II cable is required.

Does it need a SIM card for connected features?

No SIM card is required. The Thinkware CONNECTED features work over your existing Wi-Fi or mobile hotspot connection. Note that data charges from your carrier may apply.

Can I use an OBD-II cable instead of hardwiring for parking mode?

Yes — an OBD-II power cable is an alternative to a hardwiring cable for enabling parking surveillance mode.

What is the new Rear Collision Warning?

The Rear Collision Warning System notifies you when a vehicle is tailgating within 5–10 metres for more than 5 seconds. It activates from 50km/h and automatically saves the footage to the event folder.

What are the bit rate options for 4K recording?

The U3000 offers two bit rate settings: Standard (24Mbps) and High (30Mbps). Higher bit rate produces better image quality but uses more storage space.
