Product Details

We offer a range of sockets and harnesses for towing your trailer, caravan, boat, or jet ski. Our trailer sockets and plugs are available in various configurations, including the common 7-pin and 12-pin flat or round variations.

We can install these sockets to suit the specifications supplied to you by the manufacturer, and combine this with any Electric Brake Controller and/or Anderson sockets needed — for fridge power, battery charging, or stability control.

Trailer Plug Wiring Information

The 12-pin flat plug has a second row of five large terminals, which allow for a 6mm auto cable. Caravan manufacturers use this row of terminals for extra features built within the caravan. These features differ with each manufacturer and are never the same, so it is important to have the socket customised to your specific needs.

It is best not to run battery charge wires or fridge power wires through a 7-pin or 12-pin plug. The cable size permitted by the plug and socket is technically too small to carry sufficient current to charge batteries or power fridges effectively. In this scenario, it is best to use Anderson plugs with a minimum of 8 B&S cables.

What plug types are available?

7-pin and 12-pin configurations in both flat and round styles.

Can you install to my caravan manufacturer's specifications?

Yes, we can install sockets to the specifications supplied by your manufacturer, ensuring all features are correctly wired.

Should I run fridge power or battery charging through a 7-pin or 12-pin plug?

No. The cable size in these plugs is too small for effective current delivery. For fridges and battery charging, use Anderson plugs with a minimum of 8 B&S cables.

What is the second row of terminals on a 12-pin flat plug for?

Caravan manufacturers use the second row of five large terminals (6mm auto cable) for extra features built into the caravan. These vary between manufacturers, so it is important to have your socket customised to your specific setup.

Can you install an Electric Brake Controller at the same time?

Yes. Trailer socket installation can be combined with an Electric Brake Controller and/or Anderson sockets in a single visit.
