Everything you need to know about the product

Thinkware iVolt Mini External Dash Cam Battery Pack (IVOLTMN)

Increase the duration of parking surveillance mode and put less strain on your vehicle battery by adding the Thinkware iVolt Mini External Battery Pack (IVOLTMN) to your dash cam installation. The iVolt Mini uses a LiFePo4 (lithium iron phosphate) battery, which is safe for in-vehicle use as it is designed to withstand extreme temperatures. It features a super-fast charge rate of just 45 minutes while driving and simply hardwires between the dash cam and the vehicle fuse box. When you open the iVolt Mini package, you will receive two cables and fuse taps; you will also need a standard Thinkware Hardwiring Cable HWC (sold separately).

Extended Parking Mode

When hardwired, a dash cam will record in Parking Mode for approximately 8 hours (depending on the vehicle's battery and voltage cut-off setting) before powering down to save power. With the iVolt Mini, a single-channel dash cam can run for up to 20 hours, or a 2-channel dash cam for up to 16 hours in Parking Mode, before the battery pack needs to recharge.

Safe for Luxury Vehicles

If you own a luxury vehicle such as a BMW, battery drainage not only means replacing the vehicle's battery but can also require the dealership to reset the vehicle's electronics — an extremely expensive fix. By using the iVolt Mini Battery Pack, you can continue using Advanced Parking Mode risk-free, with no risk of draining your vehicle's battery while parked.

Avoid Wear and Tear on Your Battery

With a hardwired dash cam, constant discharge on the battery over a long period of time can cause wear and tear. The iVolt Mini only draws power to charge when you are driving the vehicle, which prevents damage to the vehicle's battery over time. With the ignition off, the dash cam relies solely on the battery pack for power, eliminating the need to draw from the vehicle's battery completely.

Do I Need a Battery Pack?

All Thinkware dash cams come standard with a built-in voltmeter and battery protection settings to ensure you won't return to a flat battery. These voltage settings can be used with the hardwiring kit to protect your battery when using Parking Mode. However, if you wish to record an extended amount of parking footage, or if you own a luxury vehicle or one with a small battery, the Thinkware iVolt Mini Battery Pack may be the right choice for you.

Everything you need to know

A deep dive into our industry-leading technology and high-performance standards.

Why would I need the iVolt Mini rather than just hardwiring my dash cam?

Hardwired dash cams draw power directly from the vehicle battery, which can deplete it over time — especially on luxury vehicles where a flat battery can also trigger an expensive dealer electronics reset. The iVolt Mini charges while you drive and powers the dash cam independently when the ignition is off, eliminating that risk entirely.

How long will Parking Mode last with the iVolt Mini?

A single-channel dash cam runs for approximately 20 hours; a 2-channel setup runs for approximately 16 hours per charge.

Is the LiFePo4 battery safe to use inside a vehicle?

Yes. Lithium iron phosphate (LiFePo4) chemistry is designed to withstand extreme temperatures and is one of the safest battery chemistries available for in-vehicle use.

Does the iVolt Mini replace the Thinkware Hardwiring Cable?

No. You still need a standard Thinkware Hardwiring Cable (HWC), which is sold separately. The iVolt Mini hardwires between the dash cam and the vehicle fuse box, working alongside the hardwiring kit.

What is included in the box?

The package includes two cables and fuse taps. A standard Thinkware Hardwiring Cable (HWC) is sold separately and is also required for installation.
