Product Description

Everything you need to know about the product

The REDARC HBA1224 Handbrake Alarm is designed for use in 12V or 24V automotive systems. It monitors the handbrake switch and the doorframe switch to provide both an audible and visual warning if the door is opened while the handbrake is not applied. Once triggered, the alarm latches on and stays active until the handbrake is applied — even if the door is closed again.

The HBA1224 improves vehicle safety in several important ways:

  • It reduces the risk of a vehicle being accidentally left unattended without the handbrake on.
  • When used with an external relay or horn, it can alert anyone in the general area that a vehicle has been left without its handbrake applied.

Hummingbird Electronics offer an optional external compact combination warning LED and buzzer which is well suited for use with REDARC's Handbrake Alarm. This accessory is available in both 12V and 24V variants.

Applications

Handbrake alarms are a mandatory health and safety installation on many mining site vehicles, providing critical protection against runaway vehicle incidents. The HBA1224 is equally suited to any commercial fleet, agricultural operation or work vehicle where handbrake safety is a priority.

Audio Visual Security are specialists in complete fleet vehicle installations. We work with all car dealerships and fleet operators to have vehicles ready and equipped at time of pick-up, and can customise to suit all requirements for any industry — including meeting all job site OHS requirements.

Note: The doorframe switch referenced is the switch mounted in the doorframe that activates the cab light when the door is opened.
